Empowering Families During Difficult Times

Dedicated to Supporting Families

At Family Focused Services, we strive to empower families by providing expert assistance and compassionate care during challenging moments. Our team of professionals are experienced and dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve. Independent social work company offering expert family services, childcare services & family counselling. Support that truly cares.

Supervised
Contact

We provide safe and supportive contact services for children and their families. Where there are significant concerns, supervised contact is offered by a trained professional who closely monitors each session to ensure the child’s safety and emotional well-being.

If there are lower-level concerns such as conflict between parents or communication difficulties we may suggest supported contact. This involves lighter supervision but still ensures a safe and positive environment.

We also understand that in-person visits aren’t always possible. That’s why we offer virtual contact sessions to help families stay connected in a safe and child-focused way.

Well-Being and Resilience Building

This service offers one-to-one emotional support for parents, carers, and children who are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or unsure about the future.

We understand that many families face pressure from finances, relationships, housing, or just trying to cope day to day. Our experienced team supports families to:

  • Manage stress, anxiety, and low mood
  • Build emotional resilience and confidence
  • Understand and process emotional challenges in a safe space
  • Develop realistic coping strategies and strengthen self-belief

This support can be delivered in person or virtually and is designed to meet each individual where they are with warmth, care, and professional guidance.

Family Network Meeting

Family Network Meetings bring together extended family, friends, and support networks to create a shared plan for a child’s care and safety.

Led by an experienced facilitator, these meetings help families identify their strengths, talk through concerns, and find solutions together.

The aim is to build stability and support from within the family, often reducing the need for formal services.

Family Mentoring

Our family mentoring service is all about practical, day-to-day support helping parents and carers feel more in control of routines, boundaries, and family life.

We work alongside families in their homes or communities to:

  • Create clear and healthy household routines
  • Support consistent parenting and behaviour strategies
  • Help children adapt to change (like separation or blended families)
  • Build confidence in parenting and decision-making

Family Dispute Resolution (non legal focus)

Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) is a safe and supportive process to help families talk through disagreements guided by a skilled and independent social worker.

We help families:
        •       Improve communication
        •       Resolve issues around parenting, contact, or changes in living arrangements
        •       Create practical agreements that work for everyone

This service is especially helpful after a relationship ends or when situations change and old arrangements no longer work.

Please note: This service does not offer legal advice. We can provide guidance and encourage families to seek independent legal advice when needed.

Rehabilitation Plans

Rehabilitation Plans

We support families in rebuilding trust and connection, especially after periods of separation or difficulty.

Our tailored rehabilitation plans focus on:
        •       Strengthening parenting skills
        •       Rebuilding relationships
        •       Preparing for transitions like reunification or new living arrangements

These plans are designed to promote lasting, positive change for children and their families.

Court Assessments

Our team of experienced social workers provides high-quality, court-directed assessments that are clear, thorough, and child-centred.

We understand that courts often need independent, expert insight into family situations. We carry out a wide range of assessments tailored to the specific needs of the court and the family, including:

  • Section 7 Reports (Welfare reports in private law proceedings)
  • Section 37 Reports (Assessing whether a local authority should consider care proceedings)
  • Special Guardianship Order (SGO) Assessments
  • Viability Assessments (To consider if family members can care for a child)
  • Parenting Assessments (Evaluating parenting capacity and risks)
  • Deprivation of Liberty Assessments (Also referred to as Liberty Protection Safeguards assessments in some contexts)
  • Witness Assessments for Young People (Assessing a child’s ability to give evidence or be part of proceedings)

We are also able to complete bespoke expert assessments and risk assessments, as requested by the court. These may explore specific areas of concern, family dynamics, or support needs and can be tailored to complex family circumstances.

All our assessments are:

  • Thorough and evidence based
  • Presented in a clear, accessible format
  • Focused on ensuring the best outcomes for the child

We work to the highest professional standards and with the understanding that behind every report is a real family seeking clarity and support.

Understanding Families Rights
(non legal advice)

We support families in understanding their rights and responsibilities when working with professionals especially in settings like family court.

Our role includes:

Explaining processes and next steps

Helping families prepare for meetings or hearings

Supporting communication with professionals

While we don’t provide legal advice, we offer clear, accessible guidance and always recommend that families seek independent legal advice when needed.
